Today's Review: Lucozade Energy

Recently I've been having a strange kind of headache when I've touched certain parts of my scalp. I figured it was a bit concerning, but since it only really affected me when I brushed my hair I mostly didn't think about it. Then I started getting pretty bad full on headaches a few days ago, so I went to the doctor, who prescribed me some anti-epileptic, mood-stabilising medication. Which makes sense.

What does this have to do with Lucozade? Well, these pills have made me feel not that great, quite nauseous in fact. So what was my first thought when figuring out how to stop myself feeling ill? Grab a bottle of Lucozade of course.

Lucozade Energy is an energy drink, but it's not like those other energy drinks that rely on intense names and vast amounts of caffeine. Lucozade comes in many flavours. There's an "Original" flavour that I guess tastes like glucose, it's not that great. The orange flavour, though, is amazing. Not only does it taste good, it seems to have awesome healing properties when I drink it. At the age of 16 I found that drinking Orange Fanta used to settle my stomach, but in recent years I've learnt that a bottle of Lucozade can simultaneously relieve stomach aches, headaches and nausea. I don't know if it's the dose of glucose and caffeine or whether it's purely psychosomatic, but Lucozade is my go to drink for when my tummy's not feeling good. I'm not sure if anyone else feels that way, but I'd like to find out.

Of course, there are other flavours to consider, all of them do me good, just not as much as orange. They still taste awesome though. Apple is maybe a bit too sour, but the latest additions of tropical, cherry and blackcurrant are all really nice. So if you're looking for a quick boost, or a chance to see if Lucozade has magical healing properties for anyone besides me, pick one up, I doubt you'll regret it.

My rating: 5/5

  1. This may sound very odd, but I have also found that drinking lucozade has helped me.

since 1996 i have had a strange problem with the skin on my hands which starts with the skin going hard and then peeling off, this could often get quite sore, especially in winter. i had tried creams and other remedies to try and stop this but to no avail.

last year around October time I had a bottle of the orange lucozade, for no other reason that there was no other appealing drink on the shelf.

this was not my usual choice as i don't normally have fizzy or energy drinks but i must admit i rather enjoyed it. i found it refreshing and not too fizzy.

Where i work we have a sandwich van that delivers in the morning so i used to get myself a bottle to drink in the morning.

i noticed after a couple of weeks that the skin on my hands was not as bad as usual but at this time did not associate the link.

a couple more weeks passed and by this time (early December) my hands were looking very good indeed, probably the best they had ever looked in a long time, very little dry skin.

then in med December i had to work away from home for a week, during this time I could not get any of the lucozade. When i returned home i noticed that the skin on my hands was getting worse again.

Since this i have ensured i have a bottle every day and to this date my hands have been absolutely free of any form of dry skin or issues whatsoever.

I know it is only a simple thing but when someone gives you something like change and your hands look a little tatty it makes you feel a bit low, now my hands look superb.

i also suffer with bad knees and have done so since the age of 18-19, they were getting progressively worse. this also seems to be healing and my joints are not as painful.

not sure about magical healing but it obviously supplies my body with something it needs.
