Today's Review: Weetabix On The Go Breakfast Drinks

Have you had your Weetabix? No? Holy crap, how are you going to make it through the day? Fear not, because although you certainly can't whip up a bowl of your favourite wheat biscuits on the morning commute, you can now pick up a bottle of the new Weetabix breakfast drink. It boasts all the protein, fibre and energy (read: calories) of your regular bowl of Weetabix, but in drink form.

It may sound odd, but I was hoping that these would taste exactly like soggy Weetabix. While I certainly am quite fussy with my cereal sogginess, Weetabix is the one breakfast food that I enjoy more in its mushed up state. If someone were to give me a bottle of Weetabix sludge, I'd gladly gulp it down, and I secretly hoped that these bottles would provide that.

Fortunately, they do actually have a nice wheaty texture to them. They're flavoured drinks though, and the sweet vanilla and strawberry taste a little artificial, making the whole experience akin to a milkshake, but these little bottles are actually quite filling. It's sort of like putting a Weetabix in a blender with a milkshake and churning it all up. Tasty, and a nice substitute for breakfast, but not perfect.

My rating: 4/5

  1. Hi - hopefully you noticed that there are no artificial colours or flavours in the drinks!

  2. Amount of sugar in Chocolate version 22g. Coca-Cola 250ml 26.5g. Like putting 4 teaspoons of sugar on your Weetabix.

  3. if you measure 250mls of milk, add 1 weetabix (any flavour you choose) and 1 spoon of sugar (if desired) and mix tastes far better than those drinks

    1. You're wrong - I love these drinks but not the price compared to the standard price of eating them traditionally - so I tried your suggestion - stuck it all in a blender and "yuck!" is putting it mildly.

As a starting point for people that don't normally have ANYTHING for breakfast - these are a fantastic introduction \ incentive to breakfast.

  5. You should try the Banana flavour, it's my absolute favourite! It tastes like real banana, with non of the artificial taste of the vanilla one.
