Today's Review: Oreo Ice Cream Sandwich

Of all the frozen treats, my favourite has to be the ice cream sandwich. From Maxibon to Ben & Jerry's 'Wich, I can't help grabbing some whenever I come across them. Unfortunately, those two delights aren't available much in the UK, but now there's a new ice cream sandwich in town, and it's by Oreo. What could go wrong?

Well, yes, it's certainly smaller that I expected, but good things come in small packages, right? Besides, it's only 110 calories per sandwich, so it's pretty good for a snack. This is basically a nice, thick wedge of ice cream, smattered with Oreo pieces, all wrapped up in two nice big Oreo cookies. At first it tasted a little odd to me, but I think that's because I'm used to the chunky chocolate chip cookies found in other ice cream sandwiches. The dark, chocolatey cookie taste tends to overwhelm the light, creamy centre, so perhaps if the middle were thicker the balance of flavours would be a bit better. Still, it's a good snack, it's pretty much like a big frozen Oreo. It just doesn't quite reach the heights of my other favourite ice cream sandwiches.

My rating: 4/5
