Today's Review: Starbucks Maple Macchiato

I'm not a regular visitor to Starbucks, but I couldn't help popping in when I saw they were offering a Maple Macchiato. It contains the good old fashioned espresso shot, topped with a healthy(?) helping of steamed milk, with an authentic maple topping. Sounds delicious, right? Right. This is a damn good drink. Creamy goodness with a nice little vanilla kick, to go on top of the kick you get with the coffee itself. The maple is the real winner here though, it lends some lovely sweet tones throughout the entire cup, and while it's not particularly strong, and by no means omnipresent, it does lend a lovely bit of flavour when you come across it. The syrup is a little subdued in the face of the vanilla and the milk, and I wouldn't say it is a better drink than those containing the regular flavoured shots, but it's definitely worth a try while it's still around. It's a good drink, and it tastes like maple, so if that's your thing, go get one.

My rating: 4/5
