More Christmas! After reviewing the Tesco Red Velvet Muffins a little while back, I went back and picked out this more traditional festive flavour. They've got salted caramel in the middle, and some salted caramel bits sprinkled on top. That's pretty much all there is to say about them, so let's talk about how they taste.
These are some pretty good quality muffins, soft cakey goodness that's a little on the dark side, but pleasantly so. The pieces on top have a slight crunch, a slight chewiness, and the flavour is pretty good, distinctly caramel. As for the sauce in the middle, I feel it's a little weak, it's definitely salted caramel, but skimping a bit on the salt. Still, it provides a good bit of moisture, and is plentiful enough to get a bit in every bite. The caramel taste in there is pretty great too, and it works well with the muffin itself to provide a slightly dark, very sweet overall flavour. These are some good muffins, so grab them while they're in season.
