Another day, another Marvellous Ice Cream. This job sure is hard sometimes. I've reviewed a couple of flavours of this new Cadbury range in recent days, with mixed results. This one certainly sounded tasty. It's a mixture of salted caramel and chocolate flavoured ice creams, swirled up with Dairy Milk pieces, salted biscuit, sour cherries and praline almonds.
The salted and sour elements are pulled off pretty damn well. The cherries are somewhat few and far between, but when you get one it's a nice fruity burst with a great tang to it. The caramel ice cream is smooth and salty, perhaps a little sickly, but it's nicely offset by the sweet chocolate ice cream that's never far away. The biscuit pieces are also gorgeous, a very satisfying crunch that packs a great salty flavour. The only thing I didn't like was the almonds. There are just a few too many for my liking, and the nuttiness doesn't really blend in too well with the complementary flavours that already exist. It just seems like they threw them in at the last minute, and I feel this tub would be better off without them. This may not be the best flavour of Marvellous Ice Cream, but it's still a very nice one. Well worth a try.
