Today's Review: Cadbury Salted Caramel Brownie Cookies

I reviewed the Cadbury mocha choc chunk cookies yesterday, and found them to be quite enjoyable indeed. I also picked up the other variety I saw, it's not quite as unique a flavour as the others, but it's a good combination of staple dessert features, salted caramel and brownies. Like the others, these are soft baked cookies with chocolate chunks, but these also contain caramel pieces and sea salt (surprisingly). The cookies themselves are caramel flavoured too.

It seems the composition of the cookie itself is different in this flavour, it seems stodgier, which does fit in well with the brownie theme, but it is a little heavy at times. Still, it taste chocolatey, which is good, and the chocolate chunks add a nice extra hit of flavour. The caramel pieces provide another layer of sweetness, but there's something about these that doesn't quite taste right, and it lingers in the after taste. I don't know if it's the salt, or the caramel flavouring of the cookie, but it's a little bitter, and it takes what is a pretty good cookie down to a mediocre one. All the elements are there, and they work well together, but something's a bit off. These are nice enough, but I much prefer the mocha flavour. These cookies do have promise though, I'd like to see more coming out in the future.

My rating: 3/5
